Dental Hygienist/ Therapist Application Rejection Appeal?

Professional advice for hygienist therapist GDC rejection appeals

Have you received a letter from the GDC, where it says that Overseas dental degrees no longer qualify for UK DCP registration as of 8 March 2023.

Appeal rights available within 28 days.

If your answer is Yes to the above, we will be able to assist.

The full decision letter will state:

➡ From the 8 March 2023, you cannot use an overseas diploma in dentistry (degree or diploma that qualifies you as a dentist) to support an application for registration as a DCP.

➡ As a result of the route closure, we will not be able to process your application further as you do not hold any relevant overseas qualifications for registration as a dental care professional (DCP) with the GDC.

➡ If you would like to apply to join the register as a dentist, please refer to our website for further guidance on the Overseas Registration Exam. You may also want to consider contacting the Royal College of Surgeons of England about the Licence in Dental Surgery.

➡ You have a right to appeal against this decision. Full details of the appeals process are set out in the enclosed information sheet. Please note that if you do wish to appeal, you must do so in writing within 28 days starting from two working days after the date of this letter.
